Info

This guide applies to you if you had flashed a custom firmware onto a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G and want to revert back to the stock firmware.

Prerequisites

  • Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G
  • Any of these versions of Windows: 7/8/10/11
  • A USB cable which supports data transfer, I recommend an official Samsung USB-C charging cable for this as I have experienced issues with this process when using random Chinese cables.

Acquire the stock firmware

This is done with a tool called Frija which lets you download the stock firmware for your device.

  • Download the latest release of Frija
  • Open Frija, put SM-A528B in the Model box
  • Put the CSC of your phone in the CSC box

Then, click download to download the official stock firmware.

Download the Samsung Android USB driver

In order for Odin to be able to detect your phone, you need to first download and install the Samsung Android USB driver which is found here.

Install the drivers, reboot your PC, and then proceed with the rest of the guide.

Enter download mode

Now that you have the stock firmware, to flash the firmware, you need to first enter download mode. This mode allows you to flash firmwares onto your device using a tool called Odin.

To enter download mode:

  • Power off the device
  • Connect the device to a PC using a USB cable
  • Hold the Volume Up + Volume Down keys
  • Press the buttons that correlate to “Continue” when in download mode

Flash the Stock firmware using Odin

Step 1 - Download and run Odin

  • Download Odin from here
  • Extract Odin_3.13.1.zip
  • Run Odin3 v3.13.1 found in the newly extracted Odin_3.13.1 folder

Step 2 - Check to see if your device is found

Check in the top left of the Odin window that you see a valid device, it will show up as something like COM0.

Info

If you do not see a device in the top left of the Odin window, make sure you have installed the Download the Samsung Android USB driver correctly and checked if you have a USB cable that supports data transfer.

Step 3 - Flash the Stock firmware

  • In the left side of the Odin window, you will see an Options tab, click it, and then check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. Do not tick any extra boxes
  • Add the firmware files to their designated slots (AP in AP, BL in BL, CP in CP, HOME_CSC in CSC). I have provided a table which shows what each term means.

Tip

The reason HOME_CSC is used here is because it does not reset the data on the phone, if you use CSC, then the phone will be factory reset.

Finished!

Once the flashing process is completed, you should see that your device reboots automatically into the stock firmware, job done.

What each term means

TermDescription
CSC (Consumer Software Customization)This specifies the features your Android device gets according to its geographical location and carrier.
BL (Bootloader)As the name implies, this option is used to flash the bootloader onto the phone.
AP (Application Processor or PDA)Android.
CP (Core Processor)This is the modem.
